What genre do you write?
I write speculative fiction with a domestic drama core. My stories are grounded in realistic relationships where a light element of the unexplained shifts what’s emotionally possible. Think less epic fantasy, more quiet magic that changes everything.
Are your books part of a series or standalone?
Each of my books is a stand-alone novel.
What authors are you compared to?
My books are often compared with Rebecca Serle’s In Five Years, Sarah Addison Allen’s Other Birds, and Colleen Oakley’s You Were There Too.
Where are your books set?
I’ve set my books in New England, specifically Connecticut’s Gold Coast and Southwestern Vermont. I live in lower Fairfield County and have spent much time in Vermont, so these settings feel very familiar to me. Readers who know that stretch of coastline or have spent time in Vermont tend to recognize it immediately.
Are your books appropriate for book clubs?
Yes! My books raise a lot of thematic discussions for book clubs, including issues around control, mental health, women’s rights, and community issues like social media and our obligation to the truth. You can find book club questions on the link on each book page.
Do your books have magical or supernatural elements?
My books contain light speculative elements that function as metaphors rather than world-building. Typically, only the main character directly experiences the speculative element, which forces her to confront the real-life problems she’s ignoring or that are holding her back.
How dark or hopeful are your books?
There’s emotionally intense territory here (aging parents, alcoholism, abortion, abandonment, betrayal), but always handled with honesty and care. The endings are earned and hopeful, if not always tidy.
What themes run through your work?
Memory runs through all my books: how it fails us, how two people can experience the same moment differently, how the past continues to shape who we are. I’m also drawn to marriage, grief, identity, and the long shadow of things left unresolved.
Will you come to my book club?
I am happy to personally attend book clubs that are within a 30-minute drive, and to hop on a virtual book club meeting anytime! I love talking with readers about books and answering any questions they may have.
